Lights. Action. Camera. Are you ready for Act III, Sentinel Pass? Change hit the sleepy, Black Hills town of Sentinel Pass like a tsunami from a blockbuster movie when Hollywood heartthrob Cooper Lindstrom fell in love with the Pass’s favorite daughter, postmaster Libby McGannon. It was only a matter of time until other locals, including the members of Libby’s Wine, Women and Words book club, get written into the script. This contemporary western romance collection includes books 8, 9, & 10 set in the Black Hills, Malibu, LA, and Louisiana. In this small town, secrets, mystery, murder and revenge are more than plot points in a script, when love is at stake. Black Hills Rancher Cade Garrity, Kat’s newly returned brother, has agreed to run their father’s ranch for the interim because he’s pretty sure he’s failing at being a single dad. The last thing he needs/wants is to get mixed up in some Hollywood mayhem that involves Jessie Bouchard, the beautiful stuntwoman he hired to babysit his daughter. As if her job description isn’t dangerous enough, Jessie also seems to have picked up a stalker. Black Hills Stranger Jonas Galloway has a lot of nerve asking for help from Remy Bouchard—his high school sweetheart whose heart he broke after a terrible secret destroyed their hopes for a future together. But his seven-year old daughter, Birdie, has disappeared and Remy is the only one he trusts to find her. After all, Remy’s unique abilities saved his life when he was a child. Remy is only home long enough to wrap up her affairs and sell her childhood home. Then she’s moving to the Black Hills to start a new life. But can she turn her back on a child in need? Never. Even if working with Jonas breaks her heart for good. Black Hills Legacy Robyn Craine, new owner of The Mystery Spot, has big plans for the Sentinel Pass tourist attraction, and she gambled her surprise inheritance to buy the adjoining piece of property to turn her business into a year-round travel venue. Robyn doesn’t have time to fall for Liam Temple, a handsome actor whose tycoon father is ready to go to war over Robyn’s land. Liam’s break-out role is in the works. He has no intention of falling for the feisty, Harley-riding local who somehow wound up in his father’s crosshairs for buying a hunk of land Bill Marston thinks belongs to him.

". . . my favorite rogue story, I go back to it often. . . . Beverley has managed to bring romance, mystery and intrigue . . . just fun! ~An Actual Reader Leander, Lord Charrington has a problem. Raised to be a charming diplomat, women fall in love with him. He, however, seeks a marriage of convenience with a sensible woman with whom he can live on honest terms. The impoverished widow, Judith Rossiter, Angel Bride of poet Sebastian Rossiter, seems ideal. Still dressing in black, she remains devoted to her dead husband, and she has children to provide for. Judith Rossiter thanks heaven for the earl's offered escape from disaster. Though her story is not what the earl believes, the terms of his agreement—to not fall in love with him—seem simple enough. Or so she believes on her wedding day . . . . From The Publisher: Author Jo Beverley is known for her consumate attention to historical detail that wisks the reader back in time to a near first-hand experience. Fans of Regency romance and historical British fiction set in the 19th century, as well as readers of Jess Michaels, Mary Balogh, Christi Caldwell, Stephanie Laurens, Madeline Hunter and Mary Jo Putney will want to read every book by Jo Beverley. Reader's Choice Award, Best Regency "...beautifully complex love story... The Company of Rogues is well on its way to becoming one of the most cherished series ever in romantic fiction." ~Romantic Times

Whether in the form of Christmas trees in town squares or prayer in school, fierce disputes over the separation of church and state have long bedeviled this country. Both decried and celebrated, this principle is considered by many, for right or wrong, a defining aspect of American national identity. Nearly all discussions regarding the role of religion in American life build on two dominant assumptions: first, the separation of church and state is a constitutional principle that promotes democracy and equally protects the religious freedom of all Americans, especially religious outgroups; and second, this principle emerges as a uniquely American contribution to political theory. In Please Don't Wish Me a Merry Christmas, Stephen M. Feldman challenges both these assumptions. He argues that the separation of church and state primarily manifests and reinforces Christian domination in American society. Furthermore, Feldman reveals that the separation of church and state did not first arise in the United States. Rather, it has slowly evolved as a political and religious development through western history, beginning with the initial appearance of Christianity as it contentiously separated from Judaism. In tracing the historical roots of the separation of church and state within the Western world, Feldman begins with the Roman Empire and names Augustine as the first political theorist to suggest the idea. Feldman next examines how the roles of church and state variously merged and divided throughout history, during the Crusades, the Italian Renaissance, the Protestant Reformation, the British Civil War and Restoration, the early North American colonies, nineteenth-century America, and up to the present day. In challenging the dominant story of the separation of church and state, Feldman interprets the development of Christian social power vis--vis the state and religious minorities, particularly the prototypical religious outgroup, Jews.
