Reluctant at first, he eventually takes control and realizes he can handle the business. That leaves one step in his plan. He has to see his daughter and get her back into his life. God has been revealing to me that writing is an effective way for me to share my heart with Him; I feel encouraged to use it as a way to share his love and my faith in him with you. I have spent the majority of my life searching desperately for the missing piece to complete my life puzzle. The discovery of my life has been made....Jesus. From the bottom of my heart to the top of the highest mountain, I would like to proclaim to everyone who is alive, ?God loves you! God wants to be close to you! You are created for HIM! He his waiting with open arms and unending love for you! God forgives you! We can approach God with confidence in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The idea of this book grew from a seed planted in my heart on November 9, 2012. While reading II Kings, God revealed to me an important role in my Christian life. God tells of King Hezekiah, who was aware of God's presence in past events, had a personal relationship with God via a powerful prayer life, and trusted in God's help for current events in his life. One thing he lacked was his concern for future generations. God convicted my heart that I was lacking this as well. Not sure what to do, I prayed that God would show me. A book. Since I will not be around forever to share my faith with future generations, I can share my faith through a book. This is the first and possibly the only book I will write; I will leave that up to God. This is a collection of prayers and writings regarding some truths God has revealed to me. An invitation to you...to draw near, speak to God about what is on your heart, then be still, and know that He is God. This is the sacrifice God wants from us. He wants us to share our heart with him and trust him and his word to guide our lives. Talk to God about anything you would a family member, best friend, co-worker, etc. God wants us to come to Him first.

Your mother hollers that you're going to miss the bus. She can see it coming down the street. You don't stop and hug her and tell her you love her. You don't thank her for being a good, kind, patient mother. Of course not—you launch yourself down the stairs and make a run for the corner. Only, if it's the last time you'll ever see your mother, you sort of start to wish you'd stopped and did those things. Maybe even missed the bus. But the bus was barreling down our street, so I ran. Fourteen kids. One superstore. A million things that go wrong. In Emmy Laybourne's action-packed debut novel, six high school kids (some popular, some not), two eighth graders (one a tech genius), and six little kids trapped together in a chain superstore build a refuge for themselves inside. While outside, a series of escalating disasters, beginning with a monster hailstorm and ending with a chemical weapons spill, seems to be tearing the world—as they know it—apart.

Named by the International Bulletin of Missionary Studies as an Outstanding Book of 2014 for Mission Studies Over the last four decades, evangelical scholars have shown growing interest in Christian debates over other religions, seeking answers to essential questions: How are we to think about and relate to other religions, be open to the Spirit, and at the same time remain evangelical and orthodox? Gerald R. McDermott and Harold A. Netland offer critiques of a variety of theologians and religious studies scholars, including evangelicals, but also challenge evangelicals to move beyond parochial positions. This volume is both a manifesto and a research program, critically evaluating the last forty years of Christian treatments of religious others and proposing a comprehensive direction for the future. It addresses issues relating to the religions in both systematic theology and missiology, taking up long-debated questions such as contextualization, salvation, revelation, the relationship between culture and religion, conversion, social action, and ecumenism. It concludes with responses from four leading thinkers of African, Asian, and European backgrounds: Veli-Matti Kärkkäinen, Vinoth Ramachandra, Lamin Sanneh, and Christine Schirrmacher.

The Roman Catholic Church issued its first, modern, one-volume Lectionary--a book of biblical texts assigned for every day of the year--in 1970 in response to the Second Vatican Council's call for a greater fare of Scripture during Mass. By the time the Lectionary was revised and published between 1998 and 2002, it had grown to four volumes. Because of the revision, many weekday celebrations of saints were assigned texts that had not been so in the 1970 Lectionary. Because of the Lectionary's success, many other Christian denominations adopted and adapted the Lectionary to fit their own needs. Thus, Anglicans, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Methodists, Lutherans, and many others began to use the Lectionary. In those churches that have weekday services, the same Scripture texts may be heard along with the same celebration of a saint. This volume provides reflections on the proper biblical passages for weekday saints. Any member of a Christian congregation marking the celebration of a saint on a weekday will find these reflections on the Scripture texts assigned to a particular saint very helpful.
