Americans in the 1960s were affected by many revolutions that would change the course of history in America. There was musical revolution, sexual revolution, social revolution, educational revolution, racial integration, race riots, and the effects of the Vietnam War. For a young black man like Nathan Summerdale, many of these changes had not yet reached the small city of Sarasota. Nathan knew that in order for him to experience these exciting changes, he had to leave his small community of Newtown.

"The Struggles of an Ordinary Man(Volume one)- The Turbulent History of China Through a Farmer's Eyes from 1900 to 2000 is the true record of one hundred years of modern history in rural areas of the Eastern Shandong Peninsula from the 1900 to 2000, including the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Anti-Japanese War (1938-1945), China's War of Liberation (1945-1949), the development of China after liberation (1950-1957), the Great Leap Forward Movement (1958-1959), the Three-year Disasters (1960-1962), the Socialist Education Movement (1964-1965), the Great Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) and the reform and opening up of China (1978-2000). This work, with the spirit of unvarnished realism and true-life style, illustrates the actual life and inner mind of an ordinary man in rural areas and through his eyes to see the significant changes of China during the past one hundred years. This book restores the true-life stories of the ordinary rural man with a fair view.

Bunbury's writings, together with the story of his life, provide a fascinating and informative picture of the British army and many of its commanders during the Napoleonic wars, and of the exiled emperor Napoleon, as well as casting an interesting sidelight on the English political and economic scene in the first half of the nineteenth century.

The first contemporary textbook on ordinary differential equations (ODEs) to include instructions on MATLAB®, Mathematica®, and MapleTM, A Course in Ordinary Differential Equations focuses on applications and methods of analytical and numerical solutions, emphasizing approaches used in the typical engineering, physics, or mathematics student's field of study. Stressing applications wherever possible, the authors have written this text with the applied math, engineer, or science major in mind. It includes a number of modern topics that are not commonly found in a traditional sophomore-level text. For example, Chapter 2 covers direction fields, phase line techniques, and the Runge-Kutta method; another chapter discusses linear algebraic topics, such as transformations and eigenvalues. Chapter 6 considers linear and nonlinear systems of equations from a dynamical systems viewpoint and uses the linear algebra insights from the previous chapter; it also includes modern applications like epidemiological models. With sufficient problems at the end of each chapter, even the pure math major will be fully challenged. Although traditional in its coverage of basic topics of ODEs, A Course in Ordinary Differential Equations is one of the first texts to provide relevant computer code and instruction in MATLAB, Mathematica, and Maple that will prepare students for further study in their fields.

Presenting original research studies by leading scholars in the field, Orders of Ordinary Action considers how ethnomethodology provides for an 'alternate' sociology by respecifying sociological phenomena as locally accomplished members' activities. Following an introduction by the editors and a seminal statement of ethnomethodology's analytic stance by its founder, Harold Garfinkel, the book then comprises two parts. The first introduces studies of practical action and organization, whilst the second provides studies of practical reasoning and situated logic in various settings. By organizing the book in this way, the collection demonstrates the relevance of ethnomethodological investigations to established topics and issues and indicates the contribution that ethnomethodology can make to the understanding of human action in any and all social contexts. Both individually and collectively, these contributions illustrate how taking an ethnomethodological approach opens up for investigation phenomena that are taken for granted in conventional sociological theorizing.

The influential Dutch architect's long-awaited manifesto on the everyday environment as the first and best ground for establishing the significance and coherence of architecture. According to N. J. Habraken, intimate and unceasing interaction between people and the forms they inhabit uniquely defines built environment. The Structure of the Ordinary, the culmination of decades of environmental observation and design research, is a recognition and analysis of everyday environment as the wellspring of urban design and formal architecture. The author's central argument is that built environment is universally organized by the Orders of Form, Place, and Understanding. These three fundamental, interwoven principles correspond roughly to physical, biological, and social domains. Historically, "ordinary" environment was the background against which architects built the "extraordinary." Drawing upon extensive examples from archaeological and contemporary sites worldwide, the author illustrates profound recent shifts in the structure of everyday environment. One effect of these transformations, Habraken argues, has been the loss of implicit common understanding that previously enabled architects to formally enhance and innovate while still maintaining environmental coherence. Consequently, architects must now undertake a study of the ordinary as the fertile common ground in which form- and place-making are rooted. In focusing on built environment as an autonomous entity distinct from the societies and natural environments that jointly create it, this book lays the foundation for a new dialogue on methodology and pedagogy, in support of a more informed approach to professional intervention.

This new volume takes a complete look at how classical field theory, quantum mechanics and quantum field theory are interrelated. It takes a global approach and discusses the importance of quantization by relating it to different theories such as tree amplitude and conservation laws. There arespecial chapters devoted to Euclideanization and renormalization, space and time inversion and the closed-time-path formalism.
